Modern Slavery Act

This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It constitutes Soleil Foodservice Ltd (Soleil) slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2018.

Our Organisation

Soleil is a UK based redistribution servicing the Group Purchasing Organisations (GPO) of established global supply chains operating in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry.

Our goods are sourced globally and distributed throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East. We have offices and operate a storage facility in the UK staffed by our own employees. The distribution of all goods and the storage of goods in Europe is handled via carefully selected carrier and Third-Party Storage Locations (3PL) partners.

Policies

Soleil have policies in place or in development which aim to minimise the risk of modern slavery. These include:

  • GPO adopted Supplier Code of Conduct
  • Working with Suppliers and Partners Policy which sets out internal requirements for buying goods and services – In Development
  • Staff Training Brief – In Development

Due Diligence processes

Selecting the right partners is key to our operating model. The GPOs for the Brands that we service nominate the suppliers of goods that we purchase for their supply chain to ensure that quality standards and supply chain compliance are met. This includes adherence to their Supply Chain Policy and Supplier Code of Conduct which require all suppliers to comply with laws relating to modern slavery and human trafficking in the countries in which they are operating. This policy strictly prohibits slave labour and any form of human trafficking.

The nomination by GPOs of supply chain partners extends to the customers our goods are sold on to.

The criteria that we use to select service suppliers are extensive to ensure that the required level of service is met. We expect our suppliers to apply to all applicable laws.

The practice of hiring staff in the UK is governed by UK laws and checks are carried out on the right to work in the UK with minimum rates of hourly pay and pension contributions adhered to.

Risk Assessment,
Compliance Process & Measuring Effectiveness

We recognise that by operating within supply chains with GPO nominated product suppliers that we are reliant on the relevant Brand to have robust Policies, Screening and Compliance monitoring processes.

However, we are confident that our current partners have properly assessed the nature and extent of their exposed risk and have the appropriate measures in place.

Our own storage facility and those of our chosen 3PL partners are subject to individual annual Brand audits.

Looking Ahead

Over the course of the next financial year we will continue to enhance our procedures to help us identify, prevent and mitigate any risks of modern slavery or human trafficking to new and existing suppliers.
